About us . . .
We are firm believers in the authenticity and infallibility of God's Word. It is there that He tells of His love for us - for you! - and of His startling plan to reconcile us to Himself through the death, burial and resurrection of His only Son Jesus Christ. There is nothing more important than this that you could ever read anywhere; are you ready? Jesus loves you and He has already paid the ultimate price for your sin. It's true! There is no one who does not sin, and there is no one whose sin is so heinous that they cannot be redeemed, so one way or another, this is good news for you!! Please consider accepting God's gift of salvation if you have never done so before. The gift is free to you and the benefits are eternal. (See John 3:16; Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:4-10); see also "Meet Jesus" above)
Chad Mayer and I were married in 1997 and in His lavish generosity, the Lord has blessed us with 4 amazing sons. Since 2007, the Lord has had us on a roller coaster we call The Journey. It was then that He called Chad out of a successful corporate job and directed him to become a doctor. My godly husband obeyed. Since that time our family has experienced some pretty deep waters including - but not limited to - depression, miraculous provision from the Lord, core-shaking fear, a fourth baby, exhaustion beyond what words can describe, joy in Him that I never could have imagined, a diagnosis of Leukemia in our youngest son, two extended leaves of absence from medical school, another difficult diagnosis in Chad, significant strain on our marriage, and a closer walk with Jesus than could ever have come about without ALL of the above. Phew!
Seriously, you're so brave to keep reading! :)
I spend my days homeschooling our boys, keeping house, running errands, trying to figure out what's for dinner, running on the hamster wheel of laundry for 6 people, teeter-tottering between "Thank you, Lord!" and "Lord . . . really? Really?!", and praying that somehow my life will bring glory to God. It's very messy and unpredictable even for all its routines and monotony. Perhaps you can relate?
In my spare time I love reading, paper crafting cards, reading, singing, playing piano and guitar, reading, raising chickens, reading, and learning foreign languages. Praise God, I can be relatively productive in Spanish and French, have a basic conversation in Russian and Swahili, translate enough Greek to do effective Bible study, and say at least "Hello" in 14 others. Is there anything more blessed and FUN than being able to communicate?!!!!! I also really enjoy writing, teaching, talking with friends about what God is doing, encouraging the people God brings across my path, and generally making a difference. And reading.
I have a special love for all things geography and culture so I am especially grateful to the Lord for the opportunities He has given me to travel and minister around the globe. Thus far I have walked the dusty roads of Mexico, breathed in the thick jungle air of Costa Rica, borne the suffering of post-earthquake Haiti, seen the hunger for God's Word on the faces of women in Ukraine, and held sick babies in the slums of Kenya. I feel most intensely the plight of women and children in dire situations and it is my dream to make an impact in this desperate arena (James 1:27!). We continue to pray that the Lord will use us in a medical capacity around the world (but did you know that at some point it becomes necessary to crucify even God-given dreams? I didn't know this at the beginning but I'm learning, I'm learning . . .)
So that's me. What about you? Are you in need of refreshment? Perspective? Maybe a chuckle or a good cry? It is my prayer before the Throne of Glory that "Wellspring of Grace" will be a conduit for all of this and more. May God's grace spring up in your heart providing a cold drink where you are dry and strength where you are weak, that we may all bring him glory together. Will you come?
